Legacy Technology
Legacy technology specialists, shortlisted in days
The engineers who still know Pro*C, Tuxedo, HP-UX and ClearCase are hard to find. Finding them is what we do. When you’re ready to move off the platform, we run the migration too.
- UK contract with Dreams Technologies Hub Private Limited (VAT registered)
- Engineers delivered from our own Coimbatore office, India
- Shortlist within 5 working days
- Building software since 2013
The code still works. The people who understand it are leaving.
Most legacy systems don’t fail because of the code. They fail when the last person who understands the batch jobs retires, or when a platform loses vendor support and nobody inside knows how to move it.
Large service firms are built for big programmes and rarely staff one Pro*C or HP-UX role quickly. Talent marketplaces can find you a freelancer, but no backup and no plan for what happens after. We sit between the two: a team that specialises in thin talent pools, with the engineering depth to keep the system running and to move it when the time comes.
Three ways to work with us
Dedicated specialist
A named engineer joins your team on a monthly time-and-materials basis. Best when you have live systems, an urgent gap and your own technical lead.
See support podsFixed-scope assessment
Two to three weeks, fixed fee. We map the code, the platform and the people risk, then give you options with effort ranges. Best when nobody fully understands the system any more.
See the assessmentMigration project
Fixed price once the assessment is done. We port, test, run in parallel and cut over. Best when you have decided to leave the platform.
See migrationsHow a request works
- Tell us the stack and the problem. A 30-minute call or the form below. We ask about versions, the state of the code and who is left on the team.
- We shortlist within five working days. Every candidate passes a technical interview run by one of our own senior engineers, on the platform you run.
- You interview and choose. Usually one or two candidates, not a pile of CVs.
- Work starts. Typically within two to three weeks of selection, depending on notice periods.
- Knowledge is captured from week one. Runbooks, code notes and a briefed backup engineer, so your system never depends on one person again.
Platforms with a support clock
Some of these platforms have firm vendor dates. If yours is on this list, start planning now, even if the move itself is a year away.
| Platform | What has changed | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| HP-UX 11i v3 | Standard support ended 31 December 2025. HPE lists mature support without sustaining engineering through at least 2028. | No new fixes. Itanium hardware is no longer made, so spare parts get harder every year. |
| Solaris 10 and 11.3 | Oracle Extended Support ends January 2027. | Upgrade to 11.4 to buy time, or plan the move to Linux. |
| Solaris 11.4 | Premier Support to November 2031, Extended to November 2037. | Runway exists. The constraint is people, not the vendor. |
| AIX on IBM Power | Still supported by IBM. | The pressure is cost and skills. Many estates are moving to RHEL on x86 or to cloud. |
Modernising an application, not a platform?
This section is about the platforms and skills behind older systems. If you want to rebuild, re-architect or replace the application itself, see our legacy application modernisation service.
Why teams come to us for scarce skills
Finding thin talent pools is our core skill
Large service firms rarely staff a single Pro*C or HP-UX role quickly. We keep a vetted network of engineers who have these skills and want this work.
Screened by people who have done the work
Our own senior engineers run the technical interview. Candidates are tested on the platform you run, not on general programming.
UK contract, India delivery
You contract with our UK company. The work is delivered from our own office in Coimbatore with working hours that overlap the UK day.
AI-assisted code understanding
Our team works with Claude Code to read, document and test old codebases faster. Every finding is checked by an engineer before it reaches you.
Continuity built in
Every engagement keeps a runbook and code notes from week one, and a second engineer is briefed on your system. Losing one person does not mean losing the knowledge.
We also run the migration
When you are ready to leave the platform, the same team that kept it running plans and delivers the move.
Are you one of these engineers?
If you have years on Pro*C, Tuxedo, HP-UX, Solaris, AIX or ClearCase, we want to hear from you. Join our legacy experts network.
Tell us what you’re running
Send us the stack and the problem. We’ll reply within one working day and, if it’s a staffing request, send a shortlist within five.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Where are your engineers based?
Our engineers work from our own office in Coimbatore, India, or remotely within India. You contract with our UK company, Dreams Technologies Hub Private Limited (company no. 13526602).
Can they work UK hours?
Yes. Our standard working day overlaps the UK morning and early afternoon, and we agree full UK-hours or on-call cover where the system needs it.
How do you vet skills that are this rare?
A senior engineer from our team runs a technical interview on the exact platform and versions you use. For Pro*C, for example, that covers cursors, dynamic SQL, error handling and precompiler options, not just general C.
What happens if the engineer leaves?
Every engagement keeps runbooks and code notes from week one, and a second engineer is briefed on your system. We replace the engineer and the knowledge stays.
Do you work with systems integrators and recruitment agencies?
Yes. Many of our requests come from firms that can’t fill a niche role in time. We can supply under your contract and, if you prefer, under your brand.
Is there a minimum engagement?
For a dedicated specialist, three months. Assessments are fixed fee and fixed length.
